Atarians Atari Pinball

Cabinet

NAME: The Atarians
RELEASED: November 1976
PLAYERS: 4
THEME: Adventure

HISTORICAL TRIVIA

The Atarians was the first pinball to utilize a wide-body style of playfield which would be continued in all other released Atari pinballs, and copied by several other manufacturers until going out of style only a few years later.

GAME PLAY FEATURES

Atari used ball sensors underneath the playfield instead of switches for trigger scores. Where there would typically be rollover target, like in an outlane, there is a picture of a rollover (star shaped) target, but there is actually a ball sensor mounted underneath the playfield instead of a switch. Atarians was the only Atari pinball and possibly the only pinball made by anyone that used these. (Dale Luck)
